Our Story

STOTKO Engineering (Pty) Ltd was founded in in Strijdompark, Johannesburg. From the beginning, the company's mission was straightforward: to find practical, economic engineering solutions in genuine partnership with our clients. That approach has not changed in over years of operation.

What began as a specialist supplier to the South African mining sector grew steadily into a multi-disciplinary engineering business covering bulk handling, industrial plant design, valve manufacturing and, more recently, advanced in-house fabrication through 3D printing and CNC laser cutting.

We are not a large corporate. That is deliberate. It means our clients deal directly with experienced engineers, receive fast responses and benefit from a level of personal service that larger organisations rarely provide. Many engineers at plants and mines across Southern Africa know our team personally, and we intend to keep it that way.

Let us put our experience to work for your next project.

Shaft Cable Clamps

  • Safe suspension of cable by means of a self-tightening and self-adjusting design. Precise adjustment to cable diameter with continuous clamp adjustment.
  • Wide range of settings for each clamp size. Only a few sizes are needed to cover cable diameters between 10 mm and 100 mm.
  • Only two components for ease of installation. A safety sling attaches the slide and fixed parts, minimising the risk of accidents during installation.
  • Very strong and corrosion-proof construction, adaptable to suit specific shaft requirements.
  • Compact design, saving space in the shaft.
  • Quick release allows clamps to be re-used on a new cable installation.
  • Sherardized Clamps New Superior coating now available for performance in highly corrosive underground environments.

Sheave Wheel Linings

We design Sheave Wheel Liners and can also manufacture complete sheave wheels with liners fitted.

Why Line a Sheave Wheel?

  • Lining sheaves contributes directly to longer rope life in accordance with DIN 22410.
  • Ropes no longer wear against unlined sheave rims, significantly reducing rope replacement frequency and operating costs.
  • Quick conversion from an unlined to a lined sheave with minimal downtime.
Sheave Wheel Lining
โš™๏ธ

High Friction Linings

Material Evolution

  • The first sheave liners used in coal mines were made from leather.
  • The next generation were made from rubber.
  • Today we supply our proprietary Modar compound, a dense, dark brown, high-friction elastomer developed specifically for sheave lining applications. A special flame-retarded Modar variant is approved for use in underground environments.
  • Modar liners reduce operational rope replacement costs by extending rope life in accordance with DIN 22410.
  • We manufacture all products in accordance with ISO 9001. Test certificates are available for all products.

Advantages of Modar High Friction Lining

  • Does not close up the rope groove over time.
  • Blocks fit neatly together for clean, accurate installation.
  • Lower purchase cost compared to alternative liner types.
  • Available with or without a pre-cut rope groove to suit existing or new sheaves.

๐Ÿ—๏ธ

Bulk Handling

We design tailor-made bulk handling plants for a wide range of materials and throughput requirements.

Airslide Conveyor: How It Works

An Airslide uses low-pressure air permeating through a porous membrane to fluidise fine dry bulk material. Once fluidised, the material flows down a gentle slope under gravity alone, with no moving mechanical parts whatsoever.

  • No moving parts: eliminates mechanical wear and significantly reduces maintenance requirements compared to screw or belt conveyors.
  • Suitable for cement, fly ash, alumina, flour, sugar and similar fine powders with good fluidisation characteristics.
  • Fully enclosed, dust-free transport from feed point to discharge.
  • Low energy consumption. Only a small low-pressure fan is required to aerate the membrane.
  • Slopes as low as 6 degrees are achievable depending on material properties and moisture content.
  • Packing and palletising plant design, supply and installation.
  • Automation and modification of existing bulk handling plants to improve efficiency or throughput.

Filtration Systems

We supply and support both dry bag filtration and wet filtration systems tailored to mining and industrial process requirements.

Pulse-Jet Bag Filter Houses

  • Pulse-jet bag houses use compressed air pulses to clean filter bags automatically during operation, allowing continuous plant operation with no shutdown for bag cleaning.
  • Suitable for high-dust-load applications including cement works, power station fly ash, lime processing, mineral handling and chemical plants.
  • Handles particles from 0.5 micron upward depending on bag media selection.
  • Filter bag materials available: polyester felt, polypropylene, PTFE-coated, glass fibre and aramid for elevated temperatures.
  • Operating temperatures up to 260 degrees Celsius depending on selected bag material.

Shaker-Type Bag Filters

  • Mechanical shaker bag houses suit lighter-duty applications where lower capital cost is a priority. Bags are cleaned by mechanical shaking during planned offline periods.
  • Lower operating pressures and a simpler mechanical design make them reliable choices for smaller installations.

Wet Scrubber Filtration

  • Wet scrubbers capture particulate matter and soluble gases from process air streams using water or liquid contact.
  • Particularly effective for sticky, hygroscopic or combustible dusts where bag filter blinding or fire risk would be a concern.
  • Applications include chemical processing, fertiliser plants, pigment manufacturing and industrial spray booths.
  • We supply filter housings, bag sets, replacement filter media, spare parts and ongoing maintenance support for all filtration types.

Looking for Industrial Solutions?

Our engineers are ready to discuss your bulk handling, storage and filtration requirements.

STOTKO Engineering designs and manufactures Diaphragm Valves and Non-Return (Check) Valves for low-pressure pipeline environments. Available in sizes from DN 50 up to DN 300, rated to PN 10 as standard, with flanged end connections throughout. We manufacture all valves to ISO 9001 standards with test certificates available on request.

Diaphragm Valves

Our Diaphragm Valves are designed for isolation and throttling of fluids in low-pressure pipelines. The flexible diaphragm creates a tight seal with no packing gland, eliminating stem leakage to atmosphere entirely.

Design and Construction

  • Tapered weir-type design: the diaphragm seats against a raised weir integrated into the tapered valve body.
  • Suitable for slurries, corrosive fluids, abrasive media and general industrial service.
  • No packing gland, zero stem leakage to atmosphere, low maintenance requirement.
  • Elastomeric diaphragm available in natural rubber, EPDM, neoprene or PTFE-lined to suit fluid compatibility.
  • Low operating torque, suitable for manual handwheel or actuated operation.
  • Diaphragm replacement is possible without removing the valve from the pipeline.
  • Flanged end connections as standard across the full size range. All flanges drilled to PN 10.
  • All products manufactured to ISO 9001. Test certificates available on request.
