What file formats do you accept for laser cutting?
We prefer DXF files as they give the most accurate results. We also accept PDF, AI (Adobe Illustrator) and CorelDraw CDR. If you only have a sketch or a dimensioned drawing, we can assist you in preparing a cutting file - just get in touch and we'll advise.
What materials can you laser cut?
Our CO₂ laser cuts a wide range of non-metallic materials including acrylic, perspex, ABS, HDPE, polycarbonate, MDF, plywood, rubber, neoprene, EPDM, cork, foam, felt and various membranes. We do not cut metals, PVC, or materials that release hazardous fumes when cut.
How accurate is your laser cutting?
The Trotec Rayjet R500 has a positioning accuracy of ±0.1 mm, making it ideal for precision gaskets, engineering components and close-tolerance parts. For most applications you can expect very clean, repeatable cuts consistently within this tolerance.
What is your turnaround time?
Most standard jobs are quoted same day and completed within 1–3 business days depending on complexity and material availability. Urgent same-day or next-day service is available on request - contact us to discuss your deadline and we will do our best to accommodate it.
Do you supply the material or do I bring my own?
We can supply most common materials including acrylic sheet, rubber and gasket materials, MDF and engineering plastics. If you have a specialist material you'd prefer to supply yourself, you're welcome to bring it and we'll cut it for you - provided it is safe to laser cut.
Is there a minimum order quantity?
No there is no minimum order. We cut single prototype pieces as readily as production runs of thousands. Pricing is based on cutting time and material cost, not on minimum quantities, so you only pay for what you need.
Where are you located and do you offer delivery?
We are based in Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa. You're welcome to collect your parts directly from our workshop. We can also arrange courier delivery to anywhere in South Africa simply ask for a delivery quote when you request your cutting quote.
