Why We Make a 316 Stainless Steel Version
The 316 stainless range is an ultra-thin-body version of the SK clamp, not a replacement for it. SG 42 cast iron with ArmorGalv® Sherardising remains the workhorse for South African shaft work: high load capacity, CSIR-tested sizes, and a metallurgically bonded zinc-iron coating that belongs on the casting. That is the correct spec for most underground installations.
316 stainless exists for a different job. Because the material itself carries the corrosion resistance, the body can be made far thinner than cast iron. That cuts mass and packed volume, which makes export freight materially cheaper. The trade-off is a higher unit investment: you pay more per clamp, but spend less getting a crate across a border.
Buyers also get the inherent 316 benefits: no coating to maintain in wet, acidic, salty or chemical duty, and a clean specification for marine, coastal, plant and export contracts that call for stainless rather than coated iron.
Choose by duty, not by fashion:

An ultra-thin-body version of our standard SK clamp, in marine-grade 316 stainless steel instead of Sherardised cast iron. Covers the same cable diameters as the SK11–SK31 range:

What's the difference between this and your standard SK shaft cable clamps?
The standard SK range is SG 42 cast iron with ArmorGalv® Sherardising, built for high shaft loads. The 316 range uses the same self-tightening two-piece design in an ultra-thin body. Stainless lets us drop wall thickness for cheaper international transport. Unit price is higher. Coating maintenance is not the comparison. Load capacity and body dimensions are different, so treat them as two products and confirm the fit.
What sizes are available?
SK11, SK21 and SK31 equivalents, covering cable diameters from 6 mm to 31 mm. Larger diameters up to 100 mm+ are available as a custom order. Contact us with your cable diameter and we'll confirm size, pricing and lead time.
Has it been tested?
