Why Stainless Steel Instead of Mild Steel or Sherardized?

In wet, acidic or high-humidity mining environments, mild steel clamps corrode quickly. Sherardized coatings eventually wear off. Our 316 stainless steel clamps offer long-term reliability, reduced maintenance and better safety critical for deep shaft applications.

Available Sizes — 316 Stainless Steel Range

An ultra-thin-body version of our standard SK clamp, in marine-grade 316 stainless steel instead of Sherardised cast iron. Covers the same cable diameters as the SK11–SK31 range:

SK11 (stainless)6 – 11 mm
SK21 (stainless)12 – 23 mm
SK31 (stainless)17 – 31 mm

Larger diameters (up to 100 mm+) are available as a custom order — contact us with your cable diameter for a quote and lead time. Body dimensions (width, jaw depth, bracket slot, bolt size) differ from the cast-iron SK range shown on our Shaft Cable Clamps page, since this is a thinner-profile design. Confirm dimensions with us before ordering if you're matching an existing bracket.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between this and your standard SK shaft cable clamps?

The standard SK range (see our Shaft Cable Clamps page) is SG 42 cast iron with a Sherardised ArmorGalv® coating — built for general shaft conditions. This stainless steel range uses the same self-tightening two-component design but in marine-grade 316 stainless steel with an ultra-thin body, for environments where corrosion resistance matters more than maximum load capacity — wet, acidic, salty or chemically aggressive conditions.

What sizes are available?

SK11, SK21 and SK31 equivalents, covering cable diameters from 6 mm to 31 mm. Larger diameters up to 100 mm+ are available as a custom order — contact us with your cable diameter and we'll confirm size, pricing and lead time.

Has it been tested?

Yes — compression strength up to 71 kN has been tested. The design is ISO 9001 compliant.

Can the clamps be reused?

Yes — the design is quick-release and fully reusable, which reduces long-term replacement cost compared to single-use clamps.

Where is it manufactured?

Johannesburg, South Africa, by STOTKO Engineering since 1973.

What if I need a size outside the SK11–SK31 range?

Contact us with your cable diameter — custom sizes up to 100 mm+ are available; larger runs need a lead time so give us a call for confirmation.
